Cassandra + Anthony

How did you and Anthony meet?

Anthony and I met in year 7, we went to High School together. During High School we were just friends and it wasn’t until we left school and both attended the same University that we started to talk a bit more and hang out and eventually the friendship blossomed into something more.

How did he propose?

In 2018 we went to Europe together, we travelled around 19 countries.  Anthony later told me that he had always known he wanted to propose to me in Rome at the Fontana Di Trevi as his last name is Fontana. The proposal day was a very nerve-racking day for Anthony as it had been raining non-stop since we arrived in Rome and it was a close call to having our night walking tour to the Fountain cancelled. Thankfully the rain stopped for just enough time for Anthony to drop the knee in front of the Fontana Di Trevi and ask me to marry him and become a Fontana.

How did the wedding planning start?

Before our holiday was even concluded I started (more like continued) working on my Pinterest boards for every aspect of our dream wedding. We knew we wanted to get married in 2020 and it just so happened that our anniversary fell on a Saturday, so we set our hearts on getting married on our anniversary. The planning continued when we got back home and we started focusing on venues as we knew how quick they booked out and we wanted to find a place we loved that ticked our boxes.

What made you choose Blanche Bridal for your gown?

I had spend many many hours scrolling through Instagram and looking at all the brochures from the Bridal Expos to try and narrow down where I would go dress shopping.

I had come across Blanche Bridal on Instagram and fell in love with the dresses. I just kept going back to them and couldn’t get my mind off them. The dresses were so stunning I thought for sure these dresses way out of budget, I didn’t want to get my heart set on them and then have my heart broken when I found out a price.

Thankfully, the best decision I made during the wedding planning process was to take a leap and just enquire. I couldn’t believe that such a stunning quality dress came with such a reasonable price tag.

I tried on 49 dresses in total. My wedding dress from Blanche Bridal was one of the last dresses I tried on. As soon as I put it on I knew it was perfect, the smile on my face and the reaction from my family and bridesmaids when I put it on just concreted for me that it was the one.

Helen and Iris made me feel so comfortable from the moment that I walked into the shop and it truly felt like a personal experience. They were so accommodating and helpful with suggestions as to how I could customise the dress, what accessories I could wear and how I could style the overall look.

What was your favourite moment when purchasing your gown at Blanche Bridal?

My favourite moment was trying on my dress at the first fitting appointment and seeing how my dress fit me so perfectly and really felt like my own. At the time I was also unsure if I wanted a veil or not. Helen and Iris popped one on for me to try with the dress and instantly I just felt like it completed the look. This was the point when I had that ‘this is real, this is actually happening moment’ and possibly a tear or two of utter happiness and excitement.

Did you have a theme or look in mind for your wedding?

For our wedding we wanted a black and white theme with pops of greenery (much like our apartment), something clean and simple, yet elegant. We wanted our wedding to be something more modern and different from your traditional wedding and wedding venues.

Any funny stories about the wedding day you’d like to share?

The morning of the wedding was the first time I had tried on the garter. While taking photos I realised that the garter was too big and needed to be pulled in. I left the garter with my grandmother and asked if she could sew it for me during the break between the church and reception. I had completely forgotten that the ribbon on the garter was my something blue and it wasn’t until I was in the car with my dad on the way to the church that I realised. I was adamant not to walk down the aisle without my something blue. My dad started checking his pockets to see if he had anything blue and then I noticed that the driver had a bowl of blue Mentos. I asked the driver for a Mentos and tucked it into the top of my dress ready to walk down the aisle with my something blue.

Was your wedding experience everything you dreamt of?

Our wedding was everything we had dreamed of, minus the rain, although even the rain could not dampen our day. We wanted a fun wedding full of delicious food, laughter, lots of dancing and most importantly love and that is exactly what we got. As we looked around the room throughout the night we got to take in and enjoy all the smiling faces of our loved ones, everyone digging into their meals and the fullest dance floor we have ever seen at a wedding.
