Emilie + Bradley

Emilie and Bradley’s got married at the Calyx.

How did you and your husband meet?

Like any millennial, we met at a warehouse rave! So romantic, I know! Haha! The funny thing was when we met, we lived on opposite sides of Sydney! I’m a city slicker and he’s a country boy, a literal east meets west. Wouldn’t have it any other way, he’s so good to me and I’m beyond lucky to have him as my husband.

How did he propose?

We had already designed the ring together, but he sneakily picked it up while I was at work! He proposed that night as we were going to bed. I was throwing ideas out about how we should include a gelato cart during cocktail hour. In the comfort of our home and in our PJs, super private and intimate it was exactly how I wanted it.

Tell us about your wedding gown shopping experience.

I knew what style of dress I liked, I knew I liked lace and not too much beading. I didn’t really have a budget in mind but I knew I wanted a dress from Blanche. I tried on other styles which pretty much set it in stone that the style I ended up choosing is what I looked best in. It was fun trying on so many dresses and seeing how they looked and what I could change. I’m so glad I was able to customize with Blanche designs.

Which Blanche design did you choose?

I chose Esmée’s lace design with Everly’s corset bodice and lowered the back and an unfinished hem. I knew it was the one as the changes I made were exactly what made the dress me.

Tell us about the accessories and H&MU you wore on the day.

I had a messy style boho braid as I wanted not all of my hair out of my face and I didn’t want a tight hairstyle as I rarely wear my hair up. We put hair pearls in for a pop of shine! I had these beautiful dramatic pearl earrings (I love my accessories) and my makeup was so glowy and beautiful and I looked just like me but with smoother skin! Feeling like an airbrushed goddess.

How did you feel wearing your gown on your wedding day?

I felt like such a queen!!! I loved my dress so much I put it back on the day after! Even though my train collected all the water from the rain, I didn’t want to take it off but knew I had to at some point otherwise I’d ruin it more. I’m definitely going to book another photoshoot on a sunny day so I can frolic around Sydney.

Tell us about the venue and theme of the wedding!

The venue was at The Calyx in The Royal Botanic Gardens. It was a dream come true, surrounded by so many vibrant colors and flowers. A true fairytale wonderland for me. The theme was modern romantic with lots of pastels. I didn’t go too crazy with color as I still wanted it to look timeless (I am a girl who LOVES color).

Any funny stories about the wedding day you’d like to share?

The best part that everyone loved was how my dad joined in on the bridesmaid entrance! Guess I got my dance moves and charisma from my father haha dad was definitely the star of the show ripping up the dancefloor with me.

Was your wedding experience everything you dreamt of?

My wedding happened so fast I want to relive it again. Previous brides weren’t kidding about trying to soak as much as you can. I feel like it was all a fever dream and it didn’t really happen, definitely happened too fast and there’s not enough time in the world to enjoy it forever.

What advice would you give to other Blanche brides?

One piece of advice I would give is to spend as MUCH time as you can with your new husband. You’ll look back going damn, we barely saw each other. And no matter what hiccups you come across, you’ll have the no care attitude because nobody will know what went wrong but you! Enjoy the day, drink lots, dance away into the night, and don’t forget to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
