How did he propose?
Jason proposed as a surprise when we were on a group trip with all of our friends in Santorini. It was the most magical setting ever. We were meant to be having dinner with everyone when he passed me a blindfold and escorted me to a balcony overlooking the sea. There were candles, music - absolutely everything - it was perfection and it got me so excited!
How did the wedding planning start?
The wedding planning started when we came back from our trip. It was pretty overwhelming. The first thing we did was book the venue, then the dress. I already had a bit of a Pinterest board happening (of course?!) so I knew exactly what I was looking for. Something lacy, fitted but not too fitted, not pure white - there were so many options though!
What made you choose Blanche Bridal for your gown?
I had been looking at dresses for a little while and I didn’t know what kind of look I was going for, I wanted it to be something that defined me so that when people looked at me they would say ‘that’s a Sara dress’ I didn’t want to look completely different on my wedding day. I chose Blanche bridal because there were so many options to choose from, different styles and when I walked in there and I saw the dress I just knew. It was my first day wedding dress shopping with my mum and sister. Blanche was the first wedding dress store I went into, I tried on 4 dresses (my dress was the second one) and walked away and had lunch. When we were at lunch I couldn’t stop thinking about it. We went back just before closing, tried it on again, to make sure and it was perfect! I was getting my sizes done and it was picked!
What was your favourite moment when purchasing your gown at Blanche Bridal?
My favourite moment when purchasing my dress was just standing there at the beautiful mirror and picturing what everything would look like together - the veil, the shoes, putting everything today. The ladies were so helpful and supportive of any look, alterations or amendments to the dress. I wanted to try and were there to provide any advice. I just felt relaxed which was amazing!
Did you have a theme or look in mind for your wedding?
I knew I didn’t want to have a purely white dress, my favourite flower is a peony and I wanted blush colours. When I saw the underlay of the Blair dress and the subtle pink shade I knew it was perfect and it matched wonderfully with my bridesmaids. I also love lace - this is why the Blair dress was perfect for me.
Any funny stories about the wedding day you’d like to share?
We ended up at a bar in between the wedding and the reception, we had been drinking cocktails when one of my bridesmaids decided that she would stop traffic in order to get a shot of us walking down the middle of the road together. We spent the whole day laughing, dancing and having the best time. The entire day was so far beyond my wildest dreams. I was relaxed and enjoyed absolutely every minute of it.
Was your wedding experience everything you dreamt of?
My wedding day couldn’t have been any better. It was absolutely everything that I dreamt of! My most important part was just to take it all in, so many people told me that the day would fly by and that it’s a blur. We made sure that we would take time to just enjoy it and take it in. Absolutely everything was perfection and I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing - it’s why my mouth is open in all my pictures!
