How did he propose?

We went to England for Christmas as we visit the UK quite often. Christmas is a favourite holiday for me and like most people who love certain holidays, we have little things we like to do every year. One of those things is going for walks or hikes together. Another tradition we have is exchanging Christmas cards with one another. I gave him my card and he didn’t immediately reciprocate. I did find that a little strange but I wasn’t too worried as he said he planned to give it to me later. So we went for our hike, and when we got to the top, I set up the camera on a tripod, as we love taking beautiful scenic landscape photos of our walks. While standing at the top with a beautiful view behind us, he handed me my Christmas card which read only ‘Fiancée?’ and as I raised my head after reading the card, he was bent down on one knee and I immediately said ‘YES!’

How did the wedding planning start (what was the first thing you did)?

We had somewhat of a short engagement. We got engaged at Christmas and got married in October. So the first thing was definitely locking down the venue as we didn’t have a long time. We ending up getting a venue named Willow Farm because we love Berry down the south coast where the farm is.

What made you choose Blanche Bridal for your gown?

I found Blanche Bridal on Instagram and came across a dress, Tessa, on your page that I fell in love with. It also happened to be the one I ended up choosing as my wedding gown.

Did you have a theme or look in mind for your wedding?

I wanted a mix of rustic and classic. I wanted roses and for it to be romantic and almost like an English garden wedding.

Any funny stories about the wedding day you’d like to share?

My dad gave a very funny speech. I was always a very energetic and crazy child, so much so that my parents said I needed to be harnessed to keep me safe. While my dad was giving his speech he took out my childhood harness and handed it to my husband and told him ‘It’s your job to look out for and protect her now!’

Was your wedding experience everything you dreamed of – what was the most important thing you envisioned for your special day?

It was everything I pictured my wedding would be. I was in nature, everybody had an amazing time and everything went exactly as planned. My new husband and I had a wonderful moment where we sat back and watched everyone have a great time and we both felt as though this was everything we wanted!
